Counseling

Counseling at LCM is tailored to the individual needs of each person with the purpose of strengthening their connection to God, the family, and the local church. Our dedicated staff provide professional, caring assistance to individuals, couples, and families. There is no structured program that each counselor follows.

Individual Counseling
Individuals are guided into looking at personal issues that negatively impact their relationships and are invited to turn toward healthy ways of thinking and relating that align with God’s principles. They are offered hope and encouragement for despair and depression.

Interpersonal relationships are addressed in weekly sessions that are approximately 60-75 minutes in length.  This format is modified to meet the needs of each individual client.

Intensive Counseling
Clients come for 3-5 days of intensive counseling in a quiet and peaceful setting. Away from the stress, clients can begin the healing process and acquire tools for dealing with their problems in healthy, godly ways. Long-term residency is not available.

An intensive client will typically have two sessions of focused counseling per day. Homework may be assigned by the counselor, as well as opportunity for reflection and relaxation.

Apartments are available on campus for clients during this time of intensive counseling. Clients must be able to function independently. Meals are not provided. Each apartment is furnished with a small refrigerator and microwave and basic utensils. The closest restaurant is 5 minutes away.

Family and Marriage Counseling
Counselors explore relational and family patterns and offer insights tailored to each situation. The goal is to facilitate biblical change and healing in the context of relationships. Clients may meet as a couple or individually.

Group Counseling
Small groups are led by one or two staff on topics pertaining to emotional healing (women), grief, marriage enrichment (married women), or sexual abuse (women).

The Prayer Chapel

Life Counseling Ministries provides all of its services on a donation basis, excepting a fee for room and board for individuals staying on campus. This allows anyone desiring assistance to be able to receive that help regardless of their financial situation. The Life Board has established a donation guideline of $90 per counseling session. Since Life Counseling Ministries is a charitable non-profit ministry, donations above costs of counseling are tax deductible and are used  to help others receive counseling.
